Her Story

Growing up in the bustling city of Yokohama, Japan, Kira sees tons of foreigners from around the world. Despite being happy to meet a lot of foreigners, it tends to be bland and normal for her to hear they're from notable popular cities such as New York, London, Los Angeles, Berlin, etc.

One day, when she was waiting for a train ride back to her apartment from college, she had an interesting encounter with a man that wore a customized soccer jersey from the Japanese national jersey. While she was complimenting the jersey, she asked where is he from? He answered that he's from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in which she was fascinated by it since she never heard of that place before. The moment she went back to her apartment, she searched around the Internet to learn more about Louisiana, making her more and more interested about going there. So, she applied for a foreign exchange student at a university in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Going from the bustling city of Yokohama to a country-like city of Baton Rouge is an interesting step since not many Japanese people heard about Louisiana. She would need to adapt from learning a totally different side of the United States she's never heard of: from eating different kinds of foods to meeting new people to trying new cultural things she's never tried before. Along the way, she would be learning that there are a lot of people in the state of Louisiana that wants to go to Japan one day: from anime conventions around the state to anime lovers.

So she not only learns about a totally different culture, she'll learn how to be grateful and happy about her Japanese culture along the way.
