Vibe Check #3 (October 2023)

Vibe Check #3 (October 2023)

Welcome to the third edition of our Vibe Check, where we talk about everything and anything dealing with Japan, Japanese culture, anime, or anything that's on the top of our heads at the moment. Please enjoy yourself and read through what's going on in the month of October!

Check #1: Turmoil from Foreign Vloggers in Japan

In the earlier part of October, while watching some YouTube to pass though some time, there were some videos talking about foreign vloggers going to Japan making a mockery of the Japanese people and their culture. From making racial comments to the Japanese people in front of their faces to trespassing though private property without any consent whatsoever, the foreign vloggers are doing whatever degenerate way they can to create content to their "fans".

Understandably, tons of people were disturbed by the content they're creating and wanting them to not only be arrested in Japan (don't be arrested in Japan... court system and prison life in Japan are extremely brutal) but to be deported to Japan. A lot of those "content creators" are making foreigners in Japan that loves the country and the culture having a harder time than before. Not only that, there are an instance that even some Japanese people have never met a foreigner before, so first impressions are extremely important!

Although the trouble makers did get into trouble with the platform such as YouTube and Kick, only some have actually been arrested in Japan whereas others moved out barely in time before the law enforcement gets the investigation going.

Japan is an amazing country with tons of things to do by yourself or your loved ones, but you can't treat the country like it's a full playground wherever you go in the country. There's a time and place to have fun and have a great time, but there are also a time and place to be serious and take it all in that you've made it to a country where millions are begging to go someday~.

Check #2: Japan Fest 2023

Japan FEST is a festival that mainly talks about the basics side of Japanese culture: from Japanese martial arts such as Kendo to learning about arts and crafts such as art candy and origami. It went from 10am to 5pm with small presentations around the Museum of Art in New Orleans. Since I live in Baton Rouge, going to the museum wasn't really that hard but it was actually my first time going to the museum in general. Seeing the art that was made from feudal Japan was amazing to see.

However, staying from 10am to 5pm tends to be a huge stretch for me since I already have to drive about 1 and a half hour from Baton Rouge to New Orleans and that took a decent amount of energy by itself. I did have an amazing time there since I would relearn all the great things about Japan and Japanese culture.

Plus it's really nice to see people cosplay at a Japanese festival or anything outside of anime conventions (in which I am surprised I haven't been to one before...)

Check #3: Halloween Time

Halloween has arrived in the world (were some had already ended) and it's going to be the day of either trick-or-treating for the kids or crazy Halloween parties for the adults. Whereas for me, it's mainly a time to relax and catch up on certain anime series while relaxing at home. The main one I would be catching up on is Demon Slayer, in which because there are lesser episodes for seasons 2 and 3, catching up won't be super hard to deal with for even just a night or two.

There are other anime series I would definitely need to start, especially, Jujutsu Kaizen and Spy X Family. So hopefully, I can finish all three of them in about two weeks.

That's all for Vibe Check in October 2023! Hope to see you guys soon for November 2023~~
